The End of Visual FoxPro, a sign of the changing times
A quote from the MSDN Web Site:

"We have been asked about our plans for a new version of VFP. We are announcing today that there will be no VFP 10. VFP9 will continue to be supported according to our existing policy with support through 2015 (http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=7992). We will be releasing SP2 for Visual FoxPro 9 this summer as planned, providing fixes and additional support for Windows Vista."

It's about time, it is comforting to know that MS will support the current version over the next 8 years. That means companies have 8 years to develop new solutions and train their staff on the next generation of development tools.

I saw Joachim post a message on the VO newsgroup about this, and how that may attract newcomers to VO. In my opnion that would not be a smart move, Vulcan maybe, but we haven't seen that yet so it is hard to judge.

All the more reason to consider the next steps. On this iste you will find a focus on how to move from VO to C# (and some VB maybe). I hope VFP-people will find our site equally useful.

Migrate your mind.....
